Moke Lake

We camped at Moke Lake above Queenstown, NZ the other night. Needless to say, it was a bit chilly. We awoke to a frosty/foggy wonderland. It was spectacular and freezing. Bundled up we ran around both to stay warm and to capture the beauty of this secluded valley in a glow of morning light.

Glacier National Park. Amazing place. I took this while on a road trip with my buddy Seth. Every chance I get, I drive through Glacier. It is one of those places that sticks with you. Once you've been there you always remember it. Or at least that is how it is for me. Clear lakes, proud mountains, rushing rivers, beautiful, wild country. Cherish the wild places around you.

The first 2 summers I was here in CA i took some time off. Summer number 1, the brother sister team of Kate and Stephen flew out and we drove the length and height of the country. Three of us living in a 2door honda civic for 10 (ten) days. Can you imagine? If you have a similar story, please share it. It was such a fun time! We watched the world cup in Salt Lake City in an Applebees. We saw Yellowstone and then the Grand Canyon.

Summer number 2, Seth flew out and we took the northern route. Gabe's wedding. Good times. We got pulled over and searched after seeing Mt Rushmore, Seth tried to steal Washington... just kidding. It was an ordeal, funny now, and even a little bit at the time. We were looking pretty rough, many days on the trail. Good times.

Reminisce.

We interrupt this program to bring you breaking news...

Ok, so lately I've been playing catch-up with recent adventures and what not. I finally made it to September, the day before October, and now I must jump ahead. I'm sitting here in the Looney Bean Coffee Shop in Bishop, Ca. I have been here in Bishop since Thursday, Oct 2 climbing and taking pictures. I can't wait until I catch up to show you these photos. So here are a few that I am totally stoked on:

Mt Whitney - A bit late...

I was in the Eastern Sierra Mountains from June 25-29 hiking and taking time to breathe. I highly recommend it. Not only going to the Sierra but also taking time to breathe. It is so refreshing to simply be and breathe and take in all that is around. So often I am rushing from here to there or sitting for hours in front of a monitor. Looking back on this adventure I am caught up in how good it was. Hiking up mountains, jumping in glacier lakes, breathing in the fresh mountain (thin) air, peace, epic mountainscapes that have stood the test of time.
I learned that these mountains are still growing. With each earthquake on the eastern side it force them a little bit higher, however, wind and rain and ice are maintaining a consistent height. For more pictures from my trip click here.
